What's New for January 2012
“Out with the old and in with the new” – so what are your New Year resolutions for the smallholding this year? For us, it’s to crack on with the production of our two new DVD series, “Poultry on Your Smallholding” and “Pigs on Your Smallholding” – we’re really looking forward to getting stuck into all things gallinaceous and porcine!
As usual, we have our Things To Do This Month – with lots of tips on how to keep your sheep, chickens, and pigs happy and healthy through the rather wet and chilly start to the New Year, and, believe it or not, there is plenty of work to be done on your vegetable plot, even in January! In our smallholding Diary we’ve written about the rather complicated but essential topic of soil management – get this aspect right and all your plants, crops and animals will thrive!
If you’ve devised any clever ways of saving time and increasing productivity on your own smallholding, please feel free to share them on our Forum, where you can also ask for advice on aspects of managing your land and livestock, pick up some horticultural tips, share recipes, and perhaps even find a Training course to increase your smallholding know-how!
Wishing you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prolific New Year!
